TERU Reveals the Song He Used to Sing as a Child on TV

GLAY's TERU appeared on Nippon TV's "おしゃれクリップ" (hosted by Ikuo Yamazaki), broadcast on October 25, 2026. On the show, he talked about the songs he was obsessed with as a child and his musical journey leading up to his awakening to rock.

The Details

TERU named Ichiro Toba's "兄弟船", released in 1982, as a song he often sang as a child. Above all, he sang Ikuzo Yoshi's songs the most, recalling that he frequently hummed "俺ら東京さ行ぐだ", a huge hit from 1984, during his elementary school years.

He said his awakening to rock came when he was a first-year high school student. Before that, he was a boy who loved pop music, revealing he was influenced by artists like Checkers, whom his older sister liked.

Playback!

This wasn't the first time TERU and Ikuo Yamazaki, his co-star this time, had met. On March 7, 2026, TERU made a guest appearance at "THIS IS IKU 2026," an event hosted by Yamazaki at Nippon Budokan, so this TV appearance together could be seen as a continuation of that.

GLAY was formed in 1988 centered around TAKURO and TERU, and made their major debut on May 25, 1994. TERU's striking hairstyles are also part of his charm; on July 26, 2015, he shared a photo on his Instagram of his two-tone bangs hairstyle, saying it's one of his favorites among all the hairstyles he's had over the years.

Plus One

The show also featured TERU's life split between Tokyo and Hakodate, where he has a studio and home, as well as episodes from his "dark era" before his debut. It offered a glimpse of a side of him different from his on-stage persona.
