GLAY's official website has announced that "Kegareta Eiyu" has been chosen as the November ending theme for Nippon TV's information program "DayDay." The single, released just in September, gains yet another chance to reach living rooms across Japan.
The Details
On October 24, 2026, GLAY's official website announced that "Kegareta Eiyu" would serve as the November ending theme for "DayDay." "DayDay." is an information program on Nippon TV, airing Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 11:10 and on Fridays from 9:00 to 10:25.
"Kegareta Eiyu" was written and composed by HISASHI, and stands out as a rare GLAY track featuring TERU's rapid-fire rap delivery. The song reportedly draws inspiration from the inner conflict of the protagonist in the film 『汚れた英雄』, giving it a bold, substantial feel well suited to a tie-up.
Playback!
"Kegareta Eiyu" was first performed live on January 27, 2026, at "LAWSON 50th Anniversary presents GLAY Special LIVE," held at K Arena Yokohama in Kanagawa. It was officially released as a single on September 23, 2026, around which time a music video incorporating AI-generated background visuals was also unveiled.
The song was further included on the original album 『旅する理由を待ちながら』, released October 21, 2026, and was performed alongside 「誘惑」 during TV Asahi's 40th anniversary special of "Music Station" on October 23, 2026. It's clear how a single song has expanded its reach—from its live debut, to single release, to album inclusion, to a music special, and now to a theme song for an information program.
Speaking of tie-ups with Nippon TV, there was a past example in 2008 when 「VERB」 served as the opening theme for "Music Fighter." GLAY has walked alongside television since its early days, with 「Freeze My Love」 (released January 25, 1995) having been used as the opening theme for TV Asahi's "Ring no Tamashii."
One More Thing
Since "DayDay." airs on weekday mornings as an information program, "Kegareta Eiyu" is likely to naturally reach the ears of viewers who don't usually pay close attention to GLAY's music. Be sure to check the broadcasts in November for the moment the song plays at the show's close.
The "Kegareta Eiyu" single includes not only the title track but also two new songs, along with five carefully selected live recordings from 2026 performances. If you don't have it yet, this might be a great opportunity to give it a thorough listen.
