JIRO Featured in SWITCH Magazine's GR 30th Anniversary Special

On October 26, 2026, the official GLAY website announced that JIRO has been featured in the latest issue of the magazine 『SWITCH』. The feature appears in a special section titled "RICOH GR 30TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE," commemorating the 30th anniversary of the RICOH GR. JIRO's long-standing activity as a GR photographer is highlighted as part of this milestone special.

Details

The feature appears in 『SWITCH』Vol.44 No.11, released on October 20, 2026. The special section is titled "RICOH GR 30TH Anniversary Issue FOREVER A SNAPSHOOTER," spanning 140 pages and priced at 1,650 yen (tax included). It looks back on the 30 years since the 1996 release of the film camera "GR1," tracing the philosophy of photographic expression that GR has pursued.

JIRO appears in the special alongside photos he has taken over the years with his GR. The exact number of pages or whether an interview was included has not been confirmed, but for fans, the fact that his name appears at this milestone for a camera he has long used is welcome news on its own.

Playback!

This is not the first time JIRO's connection to GR has been recognized. Starting March 27, 2025, JIRO's work was selected for the latter-half exhibition of "GR Anthology −16の視点−" (GR Anthology: 16 Perspectives), held at GR SPACE TOKYO. He was named as one of 16 photographers who are devoted GR users.

Tracing back further, JIRO's photography activities date to the release of his first photo book, 『キャラメルブックス』, on February 9, 1999. The book compiled his serialized work from the magazine 『What's IN?』, marking the beginning of the "CARAMEL RETURNS" series. On November 2, 2023, a compilation of his serialized work from GLAY MOBILE was also released as a book titled 『CARAMEL RETURNS BOOK BEST SELECTION 2015-2023』.

One More Thing

『SWITCH』Vol.44 No.11 is already on sale and available at bookstores and magazine sections nationwide. It is priced at 1,650 yen (tax included).

In addition, starting October 1, 2026, the photo exhibition "GR SNAPS," commemorating the 30th anniversary of the RICOH GR series, has also begun. The exhibition features one work each from 135 photographers, including JIRO, divided into first-half and second-half showings. The exhibited works are planned to be released within 2026 as a photo book titled 『GR SNAPS −30周年記念特別版−』.
